Cassidy was so sweet. She loved on her cousin Ryleigh....
... and Ryan. Gma-Dor and Pop-Pop blessed our son with a generous gift yet again! They got a work station where Ryan could work on his art and his lessons. Ryan loved it and was really impressed with all the functions it had. We brought it home and placed it next to my desk where we could work together. He is still proud of this cool desk, six months later! We packed up our stuff after dinner to get ready to head home when Ryan was given some carrots for Santa's reindeer. Ryan respectfully accepted a carrot in each hand.. gave a sweet kiss to his grandparents and cousins, turned around and ran to his Dad and I begging to know if reindeer had any teeth. His eyes were wide and filled with a very real fear. All the way home he asked interesting questions about this Santa guy. He decided he really didn't like him at all. He didn't like Christmas if it had a strange guy coming into his home at night without anyone knowing with a big bag.
So we concentrated on Jesus' birthday. This seemed to help Ryan calm down a bit. It was only a big birthday party for our Jesus. There were some strange stories and traditions.. but really it was all about the birthday. Then Ryan asked if we were going to have cake for baby Jesus too... which stopped us cold. Of course! We just had to have cake!
When we got home, we reassured Ryan that no one could come into our home.. not even Santa Claus or his reindeer without our permission. We walked around our whole home a prayed God's protection against fat men with beards and weird flying deer! Mike and I were laughing so hard! But Ryan was really afraid, so we took it seriously.
The next morning, Ryan and Dada opened their stockings. Ryan was excited about my old recorder. Here Mike is showing him how to play it. The end was broken with a week of this picture. I am glad we didnt get a new one! It is still playable.. and the kids do enjoy it.
